The above title is rather cryptic in some ways. I was given a tiny MP3 player for Christmas by Si. I put some music on it which was ok but then on logging on one morning I realised that I can download the daily Pray As You Go meditations in MP3 format [PAYG is my home page]. Well it’s wonderful, I can listen wherever and whenever I want to.
So, I was sat at the table this morning, sipping my tea and listening to the aforementioned PAYG on my MP3 thinking what a gift today is because, due to the snow, I have no work ~ the school is closed. I look out at my beautiful garden, unspoilt apart from the occasional paw print from the dog. Even the jagged outlines of the surrounding building site and the empty shells of the half-built houses have been softened to something far more aesthetically pleasing by the snowy blanket. Today’s meditation spoke of God being present where we are right now. The assumption being that quite obviously we’re not in church as we listen but that God is still with us on the train, in our homes, in our cars and, more importantly, forever in our hearts.
On days like these when all around is muffled by the snow, the beauty I see is simple but perfect and my time is unexpectedly my own I can take the time to look for God and He is indeed present in all things. So, as I listen on my little christmas gift from Si whilst enjoying the beautiful gift of today from God I realise that He is indeed present in all gifts, both the tangible ones and the sensory/spritual ones.
May your day be full of such gifts and may you find God in them all!!

A lovely “thought of the day” 🙂
I am off work too, and enjoying the quiet time at home, and the beauty of the snow and the sunshine outside.

Dear Sharon,
You describe such a lovely scene.
I’m so glad your prayer life is so satisfying. How are you, Mrs. Pogle, and the rest of the UK enjoying the snow? Here in Vermont we received nearly three feet over the weekend, but school was open on Monday. That equals disappointed children.
May God’s blessings continue to reach you.
With love and prayers,
Gail

Gail ~ we are total lightweights here compared with you lot. :)Three feet of snow would render us helpless and stationary for days I suspect lol. We only had about 3~4 inches and the whole city ground to a halt with every school closing. I think we’d be alot better at coping with snow if we had it more often. However, the day off was most welcome but I think we’ll be back at work tomorrow judging by the forecast.
Mrs P ~ lovely to ‘see’ you here. I hope that you’ve enjoyed your impromptu day off and that the Christmas season is being kind to you??
Blessings one and all

Vermont had more than we did here in Quebec, but a foot or so accumulation on top of the foot or so there already does add up. We haven’t had a snow day in years! Still it is gorgeous and peaceful. Snow makes you stop and slow down and is blissfully quiet.
I do empathize with your dealing with an unexpected snowfall. I haven’t always lived in the Great White North and it took me years to adjust. Be very careful with the driving.
I used to download PAYG onto my ipod and found it very useful. I especially liked the chanting that began each meditation. I am not much of an ipod person, though, and suspended my “subscription.”

Barbara ~ the strange thing about snow is that I can always tell on waking if there’s been a fresh fall of snow overnight ~ there’s always a muffled silence just hanging in the air. I like the immediate change in pace that snow in the UK enforces, yes slow and oh so quiet.
This is my first ever ipod type thingie but I have to confess that now I know I can download religious ‘bits’ onto it I’m really enjoying it.
