This section will now be used to journal my study of the book “Seven Sacred Pauses” [click image to learn more about the book] ~ which is the text we are studying as we ‘Begin the Oblate Journey’ proper. The book focuses on how to bring the beautiful practice of praying the Hours into your own life, home and most importantly your heart. It has been suggested that we may like to keep a journal and as I can type faster than I can talk [just about] it makes perfect sense to keep it on here where I’m more likely to spend time and where others can benefit from my musings.
Here is a brief resume of the study ~
“St Benedict places communal prayer at the centre of the everyday life of a monastic. The rhythm and shape of the liturgical seasons add both colour and texture to all that takes place in the monastery. Some writers speak of the daily praying of the Psalter as the ‘heartbeat’ or ‘lifeblood’ of the community.
As you begin the Oblate journey you are invited to consider the rhythms and patterns in your own life. Macrina Wiederkehr uses the framework of the Monastic Hours to unfold her understanding of the ways in which time and place can be sanctified in daily life.” ~ courtesy of Turvey Abbey.

“I have my doubts as to whether what I write could be considered a useful contribution anymore. My faith has taken on a new depth and I’m unable to put into words what that means or feels like except that it’s beautiful.”
This is a wonderful blog. I am sorry I did not find it sooner.
As for the new depth of spiritual life, I know I would enjoy just reading what’s on the menu.
There are so few people writing about your topics, the loss of a single blog is felt by all those pursuing Benedictine spirituality.

Dear John
Is it coincidental [a Godincidence] that I’ve resurrected my blog on the very day that you ‘found’ me?? I didn’t realise that I needed confirmation of my blog worth until you sent me some. Thank you so much and thanks be to God who sends us just what we need, just when we need it!!
I will add your blog to my links ~ thank you for adding mine.
